The Rock
2009 | installation: video, poems, photographs

Collected photographs of three generations of an exiled family
show a solid relation to their homeland. The Dome of the rock,
an iconic structure symbolizing Jerusalem is evident in the
background of every image. The representation of the rock
is a widely used collective one that expresses a longing for
Jerusalem by its former inhabitants while reinforcing a powerful
attachment to the city with a new generation of the Palestinian
Diaspora.
