| The
Egyptian exhibition includes works of veterans like Mahmud Mukhtar
1891-1934 with two bronze sculptures:"The Egyptian Peasant"
and "The Native"; two paintings by Ragheb Aayyad 1892-1982 :"The
Beauty" and "The Children of the High Dam"; landscapes like
"Aswan" by Mohammed Naji 1888-1956, views of the market like
"Al Suq" by Yousef Kamal 18911-1971; and three other paintings
by Al Hussein Fawzi 1905-1999.
One can also find a great deal of works by artists of the
second generation like the two important bronze sculptures
by Jamal Al Sujeini 1917-1977' "Motherhood" and "Zeinab" and
his best brass work entitled "Cairo"; and two granite sculptures
by Mahmoud Mursi, a pair of mural tapestries by Ramsis Wassef
1911-1974 school of Applied Arts and a painting by Seif Wanli
11906-1979; two large ones by the talented Tahia Hilmi in
addition to three remaining works belonging to the Arab Bank
in Cairo, we can also mention Anji Aflaton's1924-1989; paintings
entitled "The Returnees" "The High Dam" and "The Spindle"
There are works by the greatest artists like Haddayat, Shaaban
Zaki, Sabri Taher, Husni al Banani, in addition to some other
contemporary artists this exhibition counts not less than
45 pieces. This is the first time that this rare exhibit will
be shown to the public in Amman.
Darat Al Funun, under the supervision of its patron Mrs. Soha
Shoman and the Director of Darat Al Funun, Ali Maher's management
' is considered as the most dynamic art center in the Arab
World, thanks to its organization and accurate planning and
its renewed exhibitions alternating solo exhibitions with
group exhibitions of contemporary Arab Artists. The present
exhibition will be combined with a lecture and coloured slide
show by artist Makram Henein on Egyptian Art nowadays. |
